Bloc Virtual Accounts have licensed bank accounts that can be created via our API or dashboard. They can perform the same function as traditional bank accounts issued by commercial banks.

They are also subject to the same regulatory requirements that guide regular bank accounts.

πŸ“˜

The primary function of an account number is to receive money via bank transfer from other banks. If you are looking to learn how to integrate transfers in and out, read our Transfers API guide here.

Types of virtual accounts

There are two types of virtual accounts on Bloc API & Dashboard:

  1. Fixed Accounts
  2. Collection Accounts

Every virtual account issued on the Bloc API is 100% compliant to the regulations as set by the CBN.

πŸ“˜

The requirements to meet this regulation are non-negotiable, as they exist to protect and keep you compliant with the CBN regulations for FinTechs. Without them, you risk court action and/or fines running in the millions.

Banks

The virtual accounts created are powered by Banccorp MFB and Zenith Bank. Currently, all virtual accounts created are Zenith bank accounts.

πŸ“˜

Our proprietary integration with our Microfinance Bank, Banccorp MFB, is still in development. This is why it is not publicly available yet. When it is complete, you will be seamlessly migrated to Banccorp account numbers.

However, while we complete integration, Zenith bank accounts are a trusted alternative.
